Starting of as a Bharat Natyam dancer she sacrificed a career in micro-biology insearch of her cinematic pursuits.She started off accepting 2nd fiddle roles in Awaara Baapa and Swaati. She delivered afine performance in Dayavan opposire Feroz Khanand Vinod Khanna

However to me she gace her best performance in Mrityudand where she acted as a village women who takes revenge of her husbands killing by a big landlord.The film reveals the feudal nature of Bihars politics and Madhuri plays the rolke flawlessly ,getting totally into the skin of the character.of an opressed widow.The Intensity she expresses when she shoots down the landlord are unforgettableShe acted briiliiatly in Dil Too Paagal Hai opposite Shah Rukh Khan..
She went on to do an important role in Hussen/s Gaja Gamini and gave abrillinat performance in Pukaar oppsite Anil Kapoor.Her acting revealed agreat spotaniety and was very natural in astory based on Indo-Pak rivalry with Anil Kappor acting as acommander who is wrongly convicted of espionage.In DEvdas ,she acted superbly as Chandra Mukhi even overshadowing Aishwarya RAi as Paro.

She married in 2000 and her film career virtually ended.Today she feels she is almsst living a new chapter in her life as though she is another human being altogether.Her interview on her marriage with Shriram Nene revealed her down to Earth Approach.

The impact she made in her heyday is perhaps unequaled.Aishwarya may be rated more beautiful or an International Star but I still rate Madhuri far more versatile.In an era where so much chaged in India with globalisation she most effectively enacted roles in tune to the modern day aspirations(films of the N.R.I cultuire) and culture.(End of the era of empahasis on violence in films)However she never sacrificed her art.True she danced in Shiv Sena parties and sold herself to a extent but overall she always carried out herself in a most dignified manner.She co-starred with many heroes like Shah Rukh.Khan,Salman Khan,Amir Khan and Anil Kapoor.On screen no actress resembled Madhubal more Quoting Guatam Rajyadakasha"When I first swa her I saw the Madonna of MichelAngelos Pieta.with her exquisite bone structure ,large lovely eyes and smiling mouth.
It is sad she left the film world so pre-maturely.It would have been great to have seen this superstar in a Hollywood film.She has aconfirmed place in the top10 Indian actresses of all time as well as the most beautiful.(In the REkha class) It is sad that we did not see her act in a major classic likeNargis, Meena Kumari or Madhubala.I feel she would have even outshone them.

She is making a comeback to films which is welcome.It will be fascinating to see her comeback,similar to seeing an olympic champion coming out of retirement.
At .her best I can never forget her.The expressions she revealed through her eyes are unforgettable.
She has carved out a permanent place in the niche of great Indian actresses-a legend in her own right with an unmatched charisma.She radiated more joy than any actress of her era.
